DUIs, Fights: Phoeniville St. Patrick's Day Weekend Citations

Police were busy in Phoenixville on St. Patrick's Day.

The Phoenixville Police Department reported the following incidents over St. Patrick's Day weekend:

On 3/16 at 12:28PM, police responded to the Winding River neighborhood for the report of a hazardous condition. The caller reported that a group of teenagers were car surfing on a Chevy sedan. Officer Fonseca located the teens and explained the perils of standing on moving cars.

On 3/16 at 5:33PM, police responded to PJ Ryan’s Pub for the report of a disturbance. The victim, a 23-year-old Royersford man, reported that he was attacked by an acquaintance and her boyfriend inside the bar. The malicious couple were escorted out of the bar by security and met by responding officers. The pair, ages 21 and 23, reside in Limerick and Lititz respectively and were both issued summonses for harassment.

On 3/16 at 8:14PM, police responded to the Great American Pub for the report of an assault. A doorman reported that he denied access to an individual who was previously flagged from the bar and the 34-year-old Phoenixville man punched him. The man threatened to shoot up the place as he walked away. The bouncer identified the assailant by name and officers located him a few blocks away. The man was arrested for assault, terroristic threats, and public drunkenness.

On 3/16 at 9:00PM, officers saw a man walking downtown drinking a cocktail and asked him to pour it out. He was given a warning and sent on his way. Fifteen minutes later, the man reappeared with another cocktail in his hand. The 50-year-old Phoenixville man was issued a summons for the open container ordinance. Bridge Street is not Bourbon Street.

On 3/16 at 10:05PM, police responded to the 200 block of Bridge Street for the report of an assault with injuries. Officers encountered a woman with a split lip and chipped tooth and learned that her husband shoved her and she fell face first onto the sidewalk. The husband approached the officers and admitted that he just pushed his wife to the ground. The 49-year-old Collegeville man was arrested for assault and public drunkenness.
On 3/16 at 10:53PM, a resident in the Riverwalk community reported that the driver of a red Jeep hit a tree on Rt. 113 and drove off with a flat tire. A short time later, Upper Providence Twp. PD located the Jeep limping along on the Montgomery County side and arrested the 44-year-old Royersford man for DUI.

On 3/16 at 11:15PM, Officer Dobry was on bike patrol downtown and noticed a man relieving himself on the Bank Street sidewalk. The 34-year-old man from Burlington, NJ was issued a summons for the public urination ordinance.

On 3/16 at 11:58PM, police responded to the area of High Street and Franklin Avenue to check on the welfare of a pedestrian who was staggering and falling on the sidewalk. Officers located the man and he was bleeding badly from his forehead and could not function. The 28-year-old Malvern man was taken to the hospital by ambulance and issued a summons for public drunkenness.

On 3/17 at 12:51AM, Officer Knapp saw a man walking downtown with an open bottle of Bud Light beer. The 26-year-old Macungie man was issued a summons for the open container ordinance.

On 3/17 at 2:20AM, a bar patron approached Cpl. Gray outside Molly Maguire’s Pub and reported that a woman took his cell phone from him inside the bar. The officer investigated and learned that the woman took the man’s cell phone because she caught him taking photos of her over the top of the stall in the woman’s restroom. The officer checked the phone and confirmed that there were nude photos of the woman taken over the stall. The 43-year-old peeping tom from Reading was charged with invasion of privacy and his phone was confiscated.

On 3/17 at 3:00AM, an Upper Providence Twp. PD officer stopped the driver of a Lexus SUV near the Mont Clare Bridge because the car had a flat tire and was being driven on the rim. The driver told the officer that he may have hit something in Phoenixville but wasn’t sure.

On 3/17 at 7:25PM, Officer Dobry was on bike patrol near the Foundry and heard a crash coming from the area of Mill Street. The officer saw an orange Toyota Prius speeding away so he pulled the driver over. The officer confirmed that the driver just hit a parked car and she appeared to be under the influence. Samantha Sessions, age 21 of Fleetwood, PA, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI.

On 3/17 at 10:57PM, Officer Dutch noticed a man stumbling as he walked down the sidewalk in the 200 block of Bridge Street. Harry Rivenbark, age 68 of Phoenixville, was drunk and had a county bench warrant for his arrest. Rivenbark was issued a summons for public drunkenness and he was taken to the county jail.
