East Pikeland Township Historic Walking Tour – Thursday, August 18

Free Walking Tour in East Pikeland Township - Thursday 8/8/16

The Middle Pickering National Register Historic District along Pickering Creek is featured as the annual historic walking tour site in East Pikeland Township on August 18. This Free Walking Tour is part of the 22nd Annual Chester County Town Tours & Village Walks.
The Middle Pickering District is home to buildings and people who define the transformation of early industry in Chester County to the towering urban achievements of mid-20th century Philadelphia. The village of Merlin was an important crossroads for industry and agriculture in the 18th and 19th centuries. 50 years later, Oscar Stonorov architect, and Ed Bacon planner, made their homes in this area, bringing progressive modernism. The tour begins at the Stonorov residence with the history of the family in architecture and education then follows the creek back in time to end at the Merlin crossroads.
Parking and Information: Tours will begin at 5:30 pm, last tour will leave at 7 pm. Parking at 1779 Pickering Road at the intersection of Pickering and Lincoln Roads, East Pikeland.
