Phoenixville Live: Democrat Friel Is Ahead of Incumbent Hennessey
Paul F. Friel garnered 55.7 percent of the votes in the race to represent the 26th district in the state House.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Demcrat Paul F. Friel Jr. garnered nearly 60 percent of the votes in the race to represent the 26th district, which includes portions of Chester and Montgomery counties, according to the Department of State.
Friel got 8,585 votes including 6,358 in-person in-person votes and 2,227 mail-in votes.
Incumbent, Timothy F. Hennessey garnered 6,753 votes, including 6,377 in-person votes and 6,753 mail-in votes.

The district covers East Coventry, East Nantmeal, East Pikeland, East Vincent, North Coventry, South Coventry, Warwick and West Nantmeal townships and the boroughs of Elverson, Phoenixville and Spring City.
Nov. 16 is the last day for the county board of elections to receive military and absentee ballots.

The vast majority of the results should be counted by midday Wednesday, according to Chester County officials. Closer races take more time.
Winners are official 20 days after Election Day.
The results also include the race for 6th District.
U.S. Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, a Democratic incumbent, and Republican challenger Guy Ciarrocchi are vying for a seat representing the Sixth District, which consists of all of Chester County and portions of southeastern Berks County.
As of 11:15 p.m., Houlahan garnered 55.4 percent of the votes, and Ciarrocchi earned 44.5 percent of the votes.
At the state level, there are a pair of huge races that have gained national attention, with open seats for U.S. Senator and governor for months.
Josh Shapiro is project to win the governor race with nearly 60 percent, or 80,482 votes, according to the Department of State. State Rep. Austin Davis of Allegeny County is on the same ticket as Shapiro as lieutenant govenor.
Doug Mastriano garnered nearly 39 percent of the votes, or 52,863 votes.
John Fetterman, lieutenant govenor, garnered 53.6 percent of the votes, and Dr. Mehment earned 43.2 percent of the votes, according to the Department of State.
