Firebird Theatre Announces Open Youth Auditions for Hairspray the Musical!
Firebird Theatre seeks ethnically diverse singers, dancers and actors ages 13-22 for Hairspray the Musical Auditions on April 14 & 16.
Good Morning, Phoenixville! Firebird Theatre announces open auditions for teens and young adults on Thursday April 14 at 6:30 pm at Phoenixville Area Middle School Auditorium and Saturday April 16 at 1:00 pm at Victory Church in Audubon. Show dates are July 29 & 30 at the beautiful Phoenixville Area Middle School Theater.
Director Craig Corrao and Musical Director Mark Edwards are seeking an ethnically diverse cast of teens and young adults ages 13-22 for the cast of Hairspray the Musical, our annual Summer Main Stage full length Broadway musical. This production features a live orchestra and many fantastic roles and opportunities for singers dancers actors and musicians. Rehearsals begin on May 9 and run Monday Tuesday and Thursday evenings through July 30.
Hairspray is a musical comedy set in Baltimore during the 1960s civil rights movement. Teen Tracy Turnblad follows her dream to become the star of the Corny Collins TV dance show and with the help of her friends and family, overcomes adversity and discrimination to integrate the television program for teens of all shapes, sizes and race. This Tony Award winning musical comedy not only has fantastic dancing and character roles, it also provides a timely educational experience and an excellent opportunity for cast members to learn and discuss our country's history of racial discrimination and segregation as well as our culture's concept of beauty and bias based on physical appearance and race in the media.

Singers dancers and actors planning to audition should fill out and bring a completed audition form, come dressed to move, and prepare 32 bars of a song selected from the show.
