GRAND OPENING RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY AND BUTTERFLY RELEASE

GRAND OPENING RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY AND BUTTERFLY RELEASE

Join Schuylkill Township, in partnership with the Phoenixville Area School District and The Tyler Arboretum, for the grand opening of the newly installed butterfly garden at the Pickering preserve on August 1, 2015 9:30am- 11:30am. To celebrate this grand opening there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony and a butterfly release. The Pickering Preserve is located at 1500 State Road, Phoenixville, PA. Garden guests are asked to park at the YMCA parking lot and walk over to the preserve. Follow signs along Pothouse Road on the day of the event.

Students from the East Pikeland Elementary School 3rd grade Green Team helped members of the Schuylkill Township Environmental Advisory Council design and install the garden with guidance from The Tyler Arboretum. The students learned about the importance of creating a habitat for butterflies and other pollinators and would like to show off their hard work and tell guests what they learned. The garden project was sponsored by the PECO Green Region through a competitive grant program.

In addition to the butterfly release, garden guests can explore the preserve by following the walking paths throughout the preserve. Members of the Schuylkill Township Environmental Advisory Council will be on hand to talk about the many features the preserve has to offer.
