St. Mary’s Cemetery with Church in background. St. Mary’s Church is one of the oldest Roman Catholic Churches in the area, and it has significant historical import. Several veterans of the bloodiest day in United States history - the Battle of Antietam - that were residents of the neighborhood and who died that day, are buried here.
