Phantoms' Season Ends at Hands of Blue Mountain, 7-2

The Phantoms' tremendous season ended in the first round of the state playoffs on Tuesday afternoon as Blue Mountain and their flame-throwing starting pitching Jake Cryts topped the District 1 champs 7-2, The Mercury is reporting.

Phoenixville, which , finished the season 16-9 and earned its first district title since 2004 with a come-from-behind over Upper Moreland on May 30.

But despite the successes that preceded it–including –Tuesday's loss was a bitter pill for the state-title aspirants to swallow.

“We didn’t even put the ball in play,” Phoenixville assistant coach Rob Huston told The Mercury.
