Soon, borough residents won’t need to worry about counting their coins.

The Phoenixville Borough Council has approved a new measure which will let motorists pay for parking using a credit card or a mobile app.

Borough Councilman Michael Kuznar said the move represents important progress for the borough.

”It was disappointing to a lot of residents when the machines didn’t take credit cards,” he said. “We just took a step forward.”

Residents will still be able to pay for parking with cash or coins, but they will now have the added option of downloading the app and paying with their phone, or swiping their credit card.

Kuznar said he expects the new feature to be available within the next few months.
