PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- At a council meeting on Valentine's Day, Phoenixville will vote on a major new proposed anti-discrimination ordinance.
The proposed ordinance would provide housing and employment protections in Phoenixville for the LGBTQ and minority communities.
According to Outword Today, a LGBTQ news source, the proposal is modeled after similar ordinances already passed in West Chester.

“This a defining moment for Phoenixville. A moment that says, ‘This is what progress looks like. This is what change looks like’,” councilman Edwin Soto, who led the effort, told Outword. “It helps us put other municipalities on the clock to start thinking about how a policy like this can work within their own municipality. Others have been the model for us and now we get to be a part of that concept.”
If approved, Phoenixville would be the 38th municipality in Pennsylvania to adopt an anti-discrimination ordinance.

The council meeting next Tuesday night is at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
