Phoenixville's school board has five candidates running for five open seats. All five candidates crossfiled as Democrats and Republicans after winning primaries in May.
There are also several important county-level races being contested Tuesday.
In the Chester County Commissioners race, incumbent Republican commissioners Terence Farrell and Michelle Kichline are being challenged by a pair of newcomer Democrats: Downingtown mayor Josh Maxwell and education leader Marian Moskowitz.
Two other key county races will replace voids long held by long-tenured Republicans leaving their posts. Sheriff Carolyn 'Bunny' Welsh and District Attorney Tom Hogan are not on the ballot in 2019.
The DA's contest is between Hogan's First Assistant DA, who has taken the reins in his stead, Michael Noone, and another highly experienced prosecutor who also worked under Hogan, Democrat Deb Ryan.
For Sheriff, Republican Jim Fitzgerald is battling Democrat Fredda Maddox.
Other county races up for election include Register of Wills, Recorder of Deeds, Prothonary, one Magisterial District Judge seat, and two Superior Court judge seats. For a full list of Chester County candidates, see here.
