Phoenixville Family Rallies To Help Save Child's Leg

A Phoenixville boy born with a congenital disease must travel to Florida for a series of surgeries to save his leg. Here's how you can help.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- When doctors told Jesus Rojas-Romero that he needed surgeries to save his leg, teachers at Barkley Elementary School stepped up in a big way.

Teachers have rallied to create a GoFundMe page for Jesus, who was born Congenital Femoral Deficiency. As a result of his condition, Jesus must undergo a series of surgeries to repair his leg and help him to walk again.

The first surgery is scheduled for December 14 and will help reconstruct his left hip and left knee, in addition to attaching cables to his knee.

The second surgery will reconstruct the right hip and make further adjustments.

While insurance and Medicare will cover the hospital and doctor expenses, Jesus' family needs financial help to cover their lodging, travel, and food for a trip to the Paley Institute in Florida, where Jesus must go for the surgeries. The total amount they must raise is $4,320.
