Phoenixville Schools Announce Delayed Opening Friday

Breaking: Phoenixville Area School District has decided to open late on Friday.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Phoenixville Area School District has decided to open late on Friday.

All schools will operate on a two-hour delayed schedule, the district said. Office and administrative staff are asked to report one hour late to help shovel the sidewalks and parking lots.

The announcement came at around 6:30 p.m. Thursday night, making Phoenixville among the first local schools to announce a delayed opening Friday. Phoenixville closed two hours early on Thursday as students, parents, bus drivers, and employees braved treacherous conditions to get home safely.

Nearby, Spring-Ford was the only school in the area not close early, and faced backlash from parents and students who said the decision put them at risk.

Cold weather buses will pick up Phoeniville students at 9:11 a.m. at Gay and Hall streets and at 9:13 p.m. at Gay and Morris streets on Friday.
