Phoenixville Senior Center Gets $32K Grant To Improve Programs
Phoenixville's Senior Center has received a major grant to expand their programming, officials announced this week.
PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Phoenixville's Senior Adult Activity Center has received a major grant to expand their programming, officials announced this week.
The $32,975 grant comes from the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.
“Phoenixville’s Senior Adult Activity Center provides residents with the tools that they need to lead healthy, productive lives and embrace the aging process,” State Rep. Melissa Shusterman said in announcing the funding.

Shusterman touted the value of the center amidst the coronavirus pandemic, as they routinely provided meals to seniors in need.
"This facility is so deserving of this grant as they’ve demonstrated that they truly care about their patrons and go above and beyond to provide them with the critical services that they need through thick and thin," she said.

The Pennsylvania Department of Aging has provided $2 million in grants in 2019-20 to improve programming at senior community centers statewide.
Officials have not stated the exact type of programming the funding will be used for in Phoenixville.
