Phoenixville Snow Emergency Ends: Latest Updates
"These guys are incredible," officials said of public works crews, who were out on the borough's roads overnight.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The snow emergency in Phoenixville ended Monday at 6 p.m., borough officials said, moving up the end time from noon on Tuesday.
The continued snow emergency means both that plows and salt trucks are continuing to work around the borough, and that parking restrictions remain in place on emergency routes.
Anywhere from 8 to 12 inches of snow fell around the five county Philadelphia area Sunday. Phoenixville received 10.4 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

Officials said that public works crews have been working through the day and night for nearly 48 hours.
"These guys are incredible," the Phoenixville Office of Emergency Management said. "They’ve been away from their families and homes since Saturday night with harsh weather and poor safety conditions working against them. Huge thank you to these guys for all the work they put in and will continue throughout the day."

In addition to borough-owned roads, there are also major state owned routes that pass through the borough and surrounding area which are under the purview of PennDOT. That further slows and complicates the clean-up procedure.
While conditions are not as poor as they were in the midst of the snowfall Sunday, officials continue to urge residents to stay off the roads Monday afternoon.
"If you don’t have to be out this morning, please don’t be," the Office of Emergency Management added.
In Phoenixville, snow emergency routes include Bridge Street from Pothouse Road to the Schuylkill River, Dayton Street from Emmett Street to Freemont Street, and Emmett Street from Franklin Avenue to Dayton Street.

Any vehicles still parked on those roadways must be immediately moved.
Municipal lots around the borough remain open for residents to park.
Phoenixville Area School District held a flexible instruction day on Monday, while most local districts around the region held a traditional snow day. No determination has yet been made for Tuesday.
