Cadet Shawna Moore of Phoenixville was nominated to West Point in January by Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.).
“Congratulations to Shawna Moore on being named the Best Overall New Cadet Class of 2018,” Toomey said. “I know her family is full of pride. Shawna is a dedicated student and talented leader and I am certain that this accomplishment is just scratching the surface of her unlimited potential. Shawna’s efforts at West Point are a tribute to her steadfast desire to serve her country, and she has made all of Pennsylvania proud.”

Moore was an Advanced Placement scholar and a National Honor Society member during her time at Phoenixville Area High School, Toomey said. She also captained the swim team and the Great Scott Farm National Equestrian Team.
“I had the opportunity to meet Shawna and spend time with her at a few events and, knowing her a little bit, I am not surprised to learn of her winning this honor,” said state Rep. Warren Kampf (R-157th).
Moore is the daughter of Kevin and Sharon Moore.
