Pope Francis announced today that Pope John Paul II will be canonized a saint in April. Pope Francis made this incredible announcement during a meeting with Cardinals. Back in July,Pope Francis said he would canonize two very influential Popes of the twentieth century and he is making good on his word.
The two Popes are John Paul II and John XXIII. The date for canonization is April 27, 2014. There were miracles already for John XXIII. One miracle has been credited to John Paul II. He healed a nun in Italy who had Parkinson's Disease. The same disease he had. He also cured a 50 year old woman who had a brain aneurysm.
Usually a saint needs two miracles to be given sainthood. However, Pope Francis waived that for John considering the saintly life he already lived.
Pope John Paul II is well loved and respected. Despite his physical limitations, he carried on his duties and responsibilities with dignity. He had a unique relationship and respect with the youth.
