Renaissance Academy Advances to the 2015 Volleyball Championships

PHOENIXVILLE, PA—On October 20, 2015, the Renaissance Academy Lady Knights volleyball team took on the Collegium Charter School Cougars to see who would advance to the Tri-County Independent School League Finals. After losing the first set 21-25, the Knights won the next two, each with a final score of 25-22. The Cougars regrouped and won the fourth set, sending the match to a final fifth set. Stand-out player of the game was senior, middle-blocker, Carrie Baker who hit 5 kills, served 6 aces and scored 1 block. Also scoring big was freshman, outside hitter, Houston Jarvis who served 9 aces and had 2 kills. Senior setter, Miranda Hanna let her team’s offense with 6 assists and 1 kill. Rounding out the team’s top scorers was junior, middle-blocker Alina McClain who played tough at the net by adding 4 kills and 2 blocks.

Head Coach Holly Mandia said that she was very proud of this Lady Knights squad, who have made it to the championships for the fourth year in a row. “Each year we have played for the title, we’ve gained more confidence which we will need to break through and win it all.”

On Thursday, October 22nd the Lady Knights will face off against the West Mont Academy Wings in the championship match which will be played at The Perkiomen School, 200 Seminary Street, Pennsburg, PA, beginning at 5:00 pm. About this upcoming match, Coach Mandia said, “West Mont is a tough opponent, but as long as the team plays a tough mental game and plays one point at a time, there will be no stopping them.”
