Reports: Reported Phoenixville Stabbing A Hoax

Police said the woman who made the report appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The woman who reported to police on Wednesday that she had been stabbed on Elm Avenue in Phoenixville in fact was not, police said Thursday.

The call appears to have been a false alarm, The Pottstown Mercury said.

Police responded around 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, to the 500 block of Elm Avenue, where a 36-year-old woman told them she had been stabbed by an acquaintance, The Mercury said.

However, the facts did not support the woman’s story, police told The Mercury. Police said they had had dealings with the woman in the past, and it was possible that she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The woman was transported to Phoenixville Hospital as a precaution, The Mercury said.
