You mention most Americans get their news from the mainstream media, I agree that is unfortunate, as they have all become shills for their corporate owners but, I have also noticed that while MSNBC will try to make rational people mad at Republicans, Fox News routinely tries to make its viewers HATE anyone who has a different opinion. To my knowledge no one could ever claim an instance where left wing news has led to murder or violence. I can mention several where violence was at least presaged by if not promulgated by Fox News http://binged.it/1daDk6T
The idea however, that just because one gets ones news from non mainstream media, that the news they are getting is better or more accurate is not logical. The number of “independent” “news” sites made possible by the low cost of entry online means that the savvy news consumer needs to be ever more diligent in their efforts to discern truth from spin or outright fiction.
