Ursinus Cancels Swimming Season Amid Hazing Allegations
After an incident involving "alcohol and underage drinking," Ursinus College has canceled their men's and women's swimming seasons.

COLLEGEVILLE, PA — Ursinus College has canceled the remainder of their men's and women's swimming seasons following allegations of hazing. An investigation has been ongoing since September, the school announced last Friday.
The incident involved "alcohol and underage drinking," but details on exactly what occurred remain unclear. Ursinus did not say how many of the school's swimmers were involved.
There has been no announcement of criminal charges.

The coach of the teams, Mark Feinberg, has been placed on probation. He "assumes a share of responsibility for the actions of both the men's and women's teams," the school's statement reads. The university said Feinberg is working to change the team's culture moving forward.
There are 15 women and 17 men on the swimming teams, including seven seniors who will not get the chance to compete at the collegiate level again. The season had been scheduled to run from late October through the NCAA Division III Championships in March.

The squads had just competed in a competition at Gettysburg on Nov. 16, in which the men's 200 free relay set a pool record of 1:25:26.
"While the decision to cancel the season was difficult, the safety and well-being of every student at Ursinus are our greatest priorities," the school's statement reads, in part. "Ursinus College does not tolerate hazing or any action that is antithetical to our values and our mission. To those who may have been personally affected by this event, we understand that this has been a difficult experience for you. We remain dedicated to your well-being, as we are for every student, and thank you for placing your trust in us."
The program will presumably continue for the 2020-21 season.
