Donald Trump Holds Rally in Manheim, Pennsylvania

Republican nominee Donald Trump held a rally in Manheim, Pennsylvania Oct. 1.

MANHEIM, PA — After being more than an hour-and-a-half late to his rally in Manheim, Pennsylvania, Republican nominee for president Donald Trump took the stage just before 8:45 p.m., delivering a speech that lasted a little over an hour.

Trump's tardiness was attributed to the weather. At the rally in the key battleground state, Trump spoke about trade, promised to bring jobs, end illegal immigration and attacked his rival Hillary Clinton for being bought by special interest groups. At one point, he even went so far as to say that Clinton is not loyal to anyone, perhaps not even to her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

He attacked Clinton on the recently leaked recording of a conversation between she had with donors where she reportedly referred to Bernie Sanders supporters as "children of the Great Recession" who are "living in their parents’ basement." He seemed to appeal to Sanders supporters, saying that Sanders was right about only one thing and that was trade, pointing to his opposition to the Trans Pacific Trade Partnership. Trump vowed to take back the country, saying he was not running to be president of the world but president of America.

Referring to Monday's debate, Trump said he, "thinks he won." He also appeared to claim voter fraud, warning residents in the state to "watch your polling booths," because he has heard too many stories.

Republican nominee for president Donald Trump will hold a rally in Manheim, Pennsylvania on Saturday, one of many appearances the candidate has made this week following the first presidential debate where Trump's performance paled in comparison to his rival Hillary Clinton.

Following his debate performance, the week for Trump has not been stellar. The debate itself raised questions about Trump's taxes, his behavior towards women and his temperament. Early Friday morning, Trump went on a Twitter rant against Alicia Machado, the former Miss Universe he criticized in the past for gaining weight, something Clinton used at the debate to attack him with. And on Tuesday, Trump said in an interview on Fox that her weight gain was a "real problem."

More questions have arisen about Trump's charitable foundation, thanks to reporting by the Washington Post's David Fahrenthold. A report published in Newsweek alleges that the GOP nominee did business in Cuba, possibly violating the U.S. embargo with the country, a report he has denied.

In Pennsylvania, a RealClear Politics average gives Clinton a slight edge over Trump. According to the polling average, Clinton is leading Trump by 1.8 points in the battleground state. Politico's caucus, a panel of swing-state activists, strategists and operatives, have said Clinton's debate performance has given her momentum in the battleground states that will help decide the election.

The rally in Manheim begins at 7 p.m. at Spooky Nook Sports, the largest indoor sports complex in the country. Doors will open at 4 p.m.
