Sports run deep in Pine-Richland,, and Pine-Richland High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Ram uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Pine-Richland High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.
1. Neil Walker – Major League Baseball (Pittsburgh Pirates)
A 2004 Pine-Richland graduate, Neil Walker was selected 11th overall in the first round of the MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He went on to enjoy a successful Major League career as an infielder, earning recognition for both his power at the plate and leadership on the field. (Sources: MLB, BaseballProspectus)
2. Meghan Klingenberg – U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team
A member of the PRHS Class of 2007, Meghan Klingenberg competed for the United States in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. In addition to her elite soccer career, she is also a third-degree black belt in taekwondo, showcasing her athletic versatility and discipline. (Source: TeamUSA)

3. Ben DiNucci – Football (NFL & XFL)
A 2015 Pine-Richland graduate, Ben DiNucci set WPIAL and Pennsylvania state records as a senior, becoming the first player in state history to pass for over 4,000 yards in a season. Drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2020, DiNucci later led the XFL in passing yards in 2023 and now co-owns the Dallas-based brand True Brvnd. (Sources: ESPN, TribLive)
4. Brandon Saad – Professional Hockey (NHL)
Pine-Richland alum Brandon Saad is a two-time Stanley Cup Champion and longtime NHL standout. He currently plays for the Vegas Golden Knights and has also represented the United States at the international level. (Sources: NHL, USAHockey)

5. Kevin McCabe – Football (NFL, Arena League, Coach)
A 2003 Pine-Richland graduate, Kevin McCabe starred collegiately at California University of Pennsylvania, leading the Vulcans to a Final Four appearance and becoming a Division II Harlon Hill Trophy finalist. He went on to play professionally with the Pittsburgh Steelers and in the Arena Football League, and now remains active in the game as a coach and WPIAL broadcast commentator.
