1 Dead, 2 Wounded In Downtown Pittsburgh Shooting

Police are investigating the deadly incident that occurred Thursday night.

PITTSBURGH, PA — One man was killed and a man and a woman were wounded Thursday night in a shooting in the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., an officer working in Mellon Square Park heard shots fired in the vicinity of Smithfield Street and Sixth Avenue and ran on foot to the area.

The officer located a man on Smithfield Street at Strawberry Way with a gunshot wound to the chest . He performed CPR until medics arrived and transported him to the hospital in critical condition. He later died at the hospital.

A woman found at the same location was shot in the lower extremities and transported by medics to the hospital in stable condition.

Another male was located nearby with a gunshot wound to the foot. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Two men were taken for questioning at headquarters, but no charges have been filed.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office as Lonnie Latham III, 24, of Pittsburgh.

The investigation is ongoing.
