UNLV Shooting Victim Had Pittsburgh Connection
Three people died Wednesday in a shooting on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus. One had a Pittsburgh tie.

LAS VEGAS, NV — One of the three people killed in Wednesday's fatal shooting on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus was a University of Pittsburgh graduate.
UNLV Professor Cha Jan “Jerry” Chang, 64, obtained his master's degree in management information systems from Pitt in 1995 and his Ph.D in management information systems in 2001, according to his curriculum vitae. Since 2014, he had been a professor in UNLV's Lee Business School Department of Management, Entrepreneurship and Technology.
Chang died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

The suspected gunman who killed Chan and two others and critically wounded another person was shot to death by police. Authorities identified him as Anthony Polito, 67, who had applied to be a college professor at UNLV but did not get the job.
A second victim, UNLV Assistant Professor Patricia Navarro Velez, 39, died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the coroner's office. The name of the third victim has not been released but the person also was a UNLV faculty member.
