10 Events To Make September Spectacular In Pittsburgh
So what if the days are getting shorter? There's still plenty to do around town this month.

PITTSBURGH, PA - The days are getting shorter, the kids are back in school and summer is winding down. But that doesn’t mean there’s a shortage of entertaining events occurring in September.
From concerts to theatrical performances to gatherings of mystics, there’s a variety of ways to occupy yourself as the nights start to become chilly and you feel the crunch of leaves under your feet. Here are a few suggestions from Patch:
- Jonas Brothers, Sept. 3, PPG Paints Arena
The Jonas Brothers have reunited and are coming to Pittsburgh as part of a 40-date tour of North America. The tour coincides with the band's
fifth album, "Happiness Begins," that dropped in June.

- Disney’s The Lion King, Sept. 4-29, Benedum Center.
The beloved musical makes a triumphant return to the Benedum Center for the first time since its record-breaking 2013 engagement. As animals are brought to life onstage, you can thrill to the rhythms of the African Pridelands and an unforgettable score including Elton John and Tim Rice’s Oscar-winning song “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” and “Circle Of Life.”
- Pittsburgh Irish Festival, Sept. 6-8, The Lots at Sandcastle, West Homestead.
The 29th annual festival, which typically draws about 25,000 people, will include axe-throwing, Irish cuisines and beverages, live music and dance and even mini-golf and a Loch Ness Monster bounce house for all the young lads and lasses.

- A Fair In The Park, Sept. 6-8, Mellon Park, Shadyside.
Sponsored by the Craftsmen’s Guild of Pittsburgh, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the fair. An estimated 20,000 visitors annually interact with over 100 regional and national artists working in a variety of mediums including clay, fiber, wood, jewelry, glass, metal, mixed media, and two-dimensional art.
- Backstreet Boys, Sept. 14, PPG Paints Arena
The boys are back in town, touring in support of their album “DNA,” released in January. Pittsburgh is the second-to-last stop on the tour, which began in May. Expect to hear favorites such as ”As Long As You Love Me,” “Quit Playin’ Games,” and “Incomplete.”
- Jason Aldean, Sept. 14, KeyBank Pavilion
The country superstar brings the “Ride All Night Tour” to Pittsburgh, along with Carley Pearce and Dee Jay Silver. Expect to hear hits such as “Dirt Road Anthem,” “Any Ol’ Barstool,” “Lights Come On,” and “Night Train.”
- Party On The Mount, Sept. 21, Grandview Avenue, Mt. Washington.
This third annual fundraiser for the Mt. Washington Community Development Corp. takes place against the backdrop of Grandview Avenue’s spectacular views. The event takes place on the eastern side of Grandview near the Monongahela Incline and will feature vendors, food trucks and live music. Trust us, you’ll like it.
- Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival, Sept. 21, Kennywood
Pierogi Fest features over 40 vendors offering different pierogi styles, music and entertainment, and the ability to ride some of Kennywood’s most popular attractions. If you’re a season pass holder, your pass will not get you admitted into the event.
- Bitchcraft Fair, Sept. 22, David L. Lawrence Convention Center
The convention center hosts a day of artists, mystics, wine and spirits. Your $10 admission gets you into the hall where more than 200 vendors have set up shop. There also will be a cash bar and non-alcoholic refreshment for any underage apprentice sorcerers in attendance.
- Steel City Big Pour, Sept. 28, Construction Junction, Point Breeze
The Steel City Big Pour is about great craft beers, local restaurant foods and local artwork to raise money for Construction Junction so it can go on accepting reusable building materials, garden items, and furniture to keep them out of landfills and fulfill its mission.
