Pittsburgh-Area High School Student Slain

CHURCHILL, PA — The Woodland Hills School District is mourning the death of a student who was shot to death in North Braddock Tuesday night.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office said Nevaeh Howard of Rankin died after being taken to to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. She was shot at around 9:20 p..m. on the 400 block of Lobinger Avenue.
Pennsylvania State Police said there was a disturbance involving multiple people on Lobinger before Howard was fatally wounded.

Woodland Hills Superintendent Daniel Castagna issued the following statement in a post on the district Facebook page:
"We want to offer our sincere condolences to Nevaeh’s family and friends as they grieve this devastating loss.

"The district will have grief counselors and extra support available for both students and faculty during this incredibly difficult period. Please keep Nevaeh’s family and our students, faculty, and their families in your thoughts and prayers."
Police are continuing to investigate the shooting. No arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly identified.
