PITTSBURGH, PA — Two of the three victims who died Saturday in a North Side shooting were innocent bystanders waiting for a bus, police said Monday.

Police have not identified the third victim or a fourth man who suffered a leg wound as the investigation continues.

The dead women were identified as Betty J. Averytt, 59, and Jacquelyn C. Mehalic, 33. They were waiting for a bus on Cedar Avenue when an argument in the nearby Sunoco gas station parking lot turned into a shootout, Major Crimes Cmdr. Richard Ford said Monday during a news briefing.

More than two dozens shots were fired in the incident.

Police suspect two shooters were involved. Ford said police believe the dead man, whose body was found in Allegheny Commons Park, likely was one of them. Police are probing whether the man with the leg wound was the other.
