2 Charged With Killing Pittsburgh Mother, 4-Year-Old Daughter

The men are accused of gunning down the mother and daughter outside of a Pittsburgh grocery.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Two men have charged with shooting and killing a mother and her 4-year-old daughter in the city's Lincoln-Lemington section last December.

The Pittsburgh Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit and Violent Crime Unit detectives, the
U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force and Allegheny County Police on Friday announced the arrests of Marquise Givner and Tarrell Jennings, both 19.

Givner is charged with two counts of criminal homicide, one count of criminal attempt, criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, and carrying a firearm without a license. Jennings is charged with two counts of criminal homicide, criminal attempt, criminal conspiracy and aggravated
assault.

Police have not revealed a motive for the shootings.

Lewis and Thompson were shot December 1 outside the Brooklyn Food Market in the 1500 block of Lincoln Avenue. Kaari was taken to Children's Hospital, where she died; Thompson succumbed to her wounds several days later.

Lewis was killed just weeks before she was set to go on trial on attempted homicide and other charges related to a shooting that wounded two women in the 7400 block of Stranahan Street in Homewood in August 2022.
