2 Pittsburgh Police Officers Hurt Responding To Domestic Incident

The two Pittsburgh police officers were injured while attempting to quell a domestic dispute early Wednesday.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Two Pittsburgh police officers were injured early Wednesday while attempting to intervene in a domestic dispute in Garfield.

Police were dispatched to the 5300 block of Cornwall Street just before 4:20 a.m. after a one-round ShotSpotter notification. Upon arrival, officers heard several more rounds being fired.

As officers approached the residence from where the shots originated, they witnessed a multi-person domestic situation occurring.

A man in the home was uncooperative and became combative with police. As he was being detained, he assaulted two officers.

One sustained a dislocated knee cap and was transported by medics to an area hospital. The other sustained superficial wounds to their hand and was evaluated by medics on scene.

The suspect was taken into custody. He faces multiple forthcoming charges, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials.
