2 Pittsburgh TV Stations 'Trade' News Reporters

Two familiar faces on Pittsburgh newscasts essentially are replacing each other on the stations each is leaving.

PITTSBURGH, PA — In what amounts to a broadcasting trade, WPXI-TV reporter Shelley Bortz is headed to KDKA-TV a week after WPXI poached reporter Nicole Ford from KDKA. Both were working as freelancers at the stations they are leaving and will be full-time at their new ones.

Bortz, who has worked part-time at WPXI since 2015, confirmed her move Tuesday to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She will begin her new job the first week of October.

Ford announced last week "the call letters will be different" for her as she started at WPXI.

Because Bortz and Ford were not full-time reporters before the switch, they do not have non-compete clauses common in the contracts of station staff members that prevent them from working at rival stations for extended periods.
