2018 Soon Could Be Pittsburgh's Wettest Year Ever
As the year draws to a close, a damp city approaches a precipitation record.

PITTSBURGH, PA - If it seems like this year has been one washout after another, that’s largely because it has been. With less than a month to go in 2018, Pittsburgh is on the verge of experiencing its wettest year on record.
With Saturday’s rainfall, 53.32 inches of precipitation has fallen in the city, according to the National Weather Service. If slightly more than four inches falls through Dec. 31, Pittsburgh will surpass the record 57.41 inches recorded in 2004. So far this year, precipitation is 17.19 inches - or 1.5 feet - above normal.
Over the past five years, the precipitation levels haven’t come close to what we’ve had this year. There were 34.65 inches in 2017, 24.15 in 2016, 40.56 in 2015, 36.84 in 2014 and 36.65 in 2013.
