25 PA Hospitals Rank Among Nation's Best: Newsweek

PENNSYLVANIA — Newsweek has released its 2022 rankings of hospitals around the globe, and 25 hospitals in the state were rated among the nation's best.

Newsweek analyzed 2,200 hospitals in 27 countries and the United States claimed 33 of the top 150 worldwide list, including half of the top 10 spots. Newsweek editors said that hospitals on the list successfully navigated pandemic challenges and delivered the highest quality patient care.

"The medical community has been under an unprecedented level of stress over the past two years, and the ability to consistently maintain excellence is a testament to everyone working in this area," Nancy Cooper, Newsweek global editor in chief, said in a statement. "This list is meant to identify quality care and provide a guide for patients and their families."

The rankings are based on recommendations on more than 80,0000 medical experts (doctors, hospitals managers, health care professionals); publicly available data from existing patient surveys; and medical key performance indicators on hospitals, such as data on quality of treatment and hygiene measures.
