3 Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide Spanning Pittsburgh Area, Illinois

Here is the latest on an apparent Pittsburgh-area murder-suicide in which a trio of family members died.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Three people are dead in an apparent murder-suicide that occurred Wednesday both in the Pittsburgh area and in Illinois.

According to a Pennsylvania State Police report, police in Hillsdale, Illinois, were dispatched to a location there after a man reported two dead people were in a residence in Zelienople, Butler County.

When police arrived at the Hillsdale address, they found the man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Hillsdale officers then contacted police in Jackson Township, Butler County, to request a welfare check at the man's listed home address. Upon arrive, Jackson Township officers forced entry into the residence and found two women dead from gunshot wounds.

The women are believed to be family members of the man who contacted police in Hillsdale.
