3 Pitt Football Players Facing Criminal Charges

PITTSBURGH, PA - Three University of Pittsburgh football players allegedly led university police on a dirt bike chase in Oakland, almost hitting pedestrians and cars and committing a host of traffic violations.

The players - defensive back Zion Ferguson, 20, wide receiver Cataurus Hicks , 21 and wide receiver Tyreek Robinson, 20 - are facing numerous charges related to the June 16 incident.

According to court documents, officers saw the trio riding dirt bikes on the sidewalk of Fifth Avenue. Police activated their lights and attempted to stop them, but they fled and nearly hit a pedestrian on Oakland Avenue.

Additionally Hicks allegedly nearly hit a vehicle that was backing out of a traffic stop and began driving against traffic.

Police also saw the players doing wheelies during the pursuit.

Hicks’ charges include riot and fleeing or attempting to elude a police, recklessly endangering another person,and disorderly conduct and reckless driving

Robinson is charged with reckless endangering another person, disorderly conduct, failure to stop at a red signal, careless driving, and fleeing or attempting to elude an officer.

Ferguson is charged with disorderly conduct, driving while operating privileges are suspended or revoked, failure to stop at a red signal, careless driving and fleeing or attempting to elude an officer.

Fergeson was identified by police the night of the incident; Robinson was identified about two weeks later when police observed him standing next to one of the dirt bikes allegedly driven in the incident; Hicks was identified and charged this week.
