3 Pittsburgh Breweries Rank Among PA's Top 10: Untappd

PITTSBURGH, PA — A trio of Pittsburgh-area breweries were popular enough to rank among the state's top 10 for the first half of 2021 on the Untappd app used by many beer connoisseurs. The rankings were released Friday by the Breweries in Pennsylvania website.

Dancing Gnome in Shaprsburg was rated the best local brewery and ranked third in the state.

"While this Pittsburgh brewery is known for its hazy, juicy IPAs, you shouldn’t sleep on all of the styles coming from Dancing Gnome," Breweries in Pennsylvania advised. "But get in the lines early (or) you may miss out."

Old Thunder in Blawnox just opened in April but obviously has wowed those who have sampled its brews. It was tied for fourth.

"Old Thunder," the website wrote, "has carved out a name for itself by producing some of the best craft beer you will find in the area."

Tied for 10th place was another local favorite, Brew Gentlemen in Braddock.

"The brewery may not seem like much from the outside, but once you step through the doors the sights, sounds and most importantly flavors are overwhelming," Breweries in Pennsylvania raved. "From the bartenders decked out in classic black and white outfits to the award winning beer there is plenty to take in at their Braddock brewery."
