4 Pittsburgh Restaurants Among Nation's Most Romantic: OpenTable

PITTSBURGH, PA — Just before Valentiene's Day, a trio of Pittsburgh restaurants appears on restaurant booking site OpenTable's 2022 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in America list. The rankings of the most intimate culinary destinations are based on diner reviews, and a Valentine's Day Experiences hub where diners can discover and book tasting menus, dessert-making workshops, cooking classes, wine pairings and more.

After nearly two years of celebrating at home, a recent OpenTable survey revealed 34 percent of U.S. adults who celebrate the holiday haven't dined out for Valentine's Day since before 2019. That likely will change, according to Susan Lee, OpenTable's chief growth officer.

"Our data suggests that Valentine's Day dining is rebounding this year, with reservations up 30 percent nationwide compared to last year,"she said. "We're excited to see this momentum
leading up to what has traditionally been one of the biggest dining days of the year for restaurants."

Here are the Pittsburgh restaurants that made this year's list:

• Altius, Mt. Washington: Rated Four Diamond by AAA, Altius, the second restaurant concept from B DeFrancis and Chef Jessica Bauer, has risen in ranks as one of the top restaurants in Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania.

• Casbah, Shadyside: From the year-round patio to the cozy bar, Casbah creates a romantic environment when dining from the broad menu focused on Mediterranean-inspired cuisine.

• Fig & Ash, North Side: A wood-flamed mash-up of Modern America with classic influences, guests are treated to home-away-from-home scratch cooking. Fig & Ash butchers its own meats, grinds it own grains and works with local farms to provide seasonal sustainable dishes.

• Montery Bay Fish Grotto, Mt. Washington: This award-winning restaurant's fish is fresh and flown in from a number of locations on the East Coast, West Coast and Hawaiian Islands. The region's premier fresh fish restaurant offers 20 kids of fish in an array or styles.
