5 Dead In Pittsburgh-Area Crash

WHARTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Five people were killed Tuesday after a crash on Northern Pike 40 in Fayette County. The crash occurred shortly after 1 p.m., according to authorities.

PennDOT said Route 40 is closed in both directions, from the intersection of Route 381 (Elliotsville Road/Farmington Ohiopyle Road) to the intersection of Dinner Bell-5 Forks Road and Dinner Bell-Ohiopyle Road.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash.

The names of the victims have not yet been released. One of the victims was a child, according to WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh.
