9-Year-Old Girl Made School Bomb Threat Via App, Police Say

The girl used one of the most popular children's gaming apps to make the threat.

PITTSBURGH, PA - A 9-year-old girl faces disciplinary action after using a cellphone app to send a bomb threat to her elementary school.

State police said the threat was made against the H.W. Good Elementary School in the Yough School District in Herminie, Westmoreland County, southeast of Pittsburgh. Triblive.com reported that the girl made the threat through Roblox, an app that says it caters to virtual explorers looking to “create adventures, play games, role play and learn with their friends in a family-friendly environment.

Yough superintendent Janet Sardon said the girl will be disciplined when she returns to school in August. The district informed parents of the bomb threat via letter.
