Afghanistan Blast Kills U.S. Soldier From Southwestern PA

Two of the explosion's four victims were from the region.

PITTSBURGH, PA - A second member of the U.S. military from southwestern Pennsylvania has died from injuries sustained from an improvised explosive device last week in Afghanistan. Sgt. Jason Mitchell McClary, 24, died Sunday in Landstuhl, German, five days after the IED attack in Ghanzi, Afghanistan, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.

McClary, of Export, Westmoreland County, was assigned to 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Also killed in the blast was Staff Sgt. Dylan Elchin, 25, a native of Beaver County, and two other service members. Funeral services will be held for him on Thursday.
