Allegheny Co. Executive Candidate Innamorato Resigns PA House Seat
Sara Innamorato announced her resignation on Wednesday.

HARRISBURG, PA —Sara Innamorato, the leading candidate to become the next Allegheny County executive, has resigned from the state House.
Innamoroto, who represented portions of Pittsburgh and several of its northern suburbs will face Joe Rockey in the November general election for the executive position. Rockey, a former PNC
Financial Services executive, was unopposed for the Republican nomination.
“It has been an honor of a lifetime to serve as your representative for the 21st Legislative District,” Innamorato said in a statement.

“Throughout my time as a representative, my constituents’ stories inspired and drove my legislative priorities around creating safe and healthy communities where we can all thrive. Together, we've done amazing things to improve our region, and I am excited to continue serving our neighbors for years to come.”
Democratic Speaker Joanna McClinton already has scheduled a special election for Innamorato's seat for Sept. 19. The House is expected to return to session a week later.
