Allegheny County Coronavirus Cases Continue To Surge
The number of coronavirus cases in southwestern Pennsylvania has nearly doubled since Wednesday.
PITTSBURGH, PA - Allegheny County's confirmed coronavirus cases have increased to 158 as of 11 a.m. Friday, the county health department announced. That's up from 133 confirmed cases on Thursday and 88 confirmed cases on Wednesday.
Twenty-five people are hospitalized with the coronavirus in the county, up from 20 on Thursday.
With 24 confirmed cases in Westmoreland County, 19 in Butler County, 13 in Beaver County and 12 in Washington County, that brings the total number of coronavirus cases in southwestern Pennsylvania to 226 as of Friday morning. That's up from 178 on Thursday morning and 117 on Wednesday morning.

There have been two coronavirus deaths in southwestern Pennsylvania, both in Allegheny County.

0-4: 1 (less than 1 percent)
5-12: 1 (less than 1 percent)
13-18: 3 (less than 1 percent)
19-24: 22 (2 percent)
25-49: 66 (14 percent)
50-64: 41 (42 percent)
65 and older: 24 (15 percent)
By sex, 81 cases have been female and 77 have been male.
According to Pennsylvania Department of Health figures, Allegheny County has recorded the fourth-most coronavirus cases in the state behind Montgomery, Philadelphia and Delaware counties.
Residents of Allegheny County and nine other Pennsylvania counties remain under a two week stay-at-home order issued March 23 by Gov. Tom Wolf.
