Allegheny County Has Largest Single-Day Coronavirus Case Number

Here are the latest coronavirus case numbers for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department reported one new coronavirus death on Wednesday. The county death toll now stands at 187.

The county also reported 110 new cases, the largest single-day number since the outbreak began. The previous high mark occurred Tuesday when 106 cases were reported. The number of cases during the outbreak in the county now stands at 2,870 up from 2,760 on Tuesday.

In the newest cases, ages range from four months to 85 years, with the median age being 29. New
cases will continue to be assigned to case investigators to gather information from those individuals and then contact tracing will begin.

Three hundred and ninety-seven people have been hospitalized in the county during the
outbreak. There were four new hospitalizations on Tuesday, county officials said.

With 669 confirmed cases in Beaver County, 646 in Westmoreland County, 307 in Butler County and 219 in Washington County, that brings the total number of cases in the five-county
southwestern Pennsylvania region to 4,611. That's up from 4,569 on Tuesday.

According to the state Department of Health, 322 people have died thus far in the five-county region: One hundred and eighty-seven in Allegheny County, 78 in Beaver County, 38 in Westmoreland County, 13 in Butler County and six in Washington County.
