Allegheny County Jail Guard Union Head Facing Charges

The corrections officer is accused of causing a disruption at a recent high school football game.

WEST MIFFLIN, PA — The Allegheny County Jail corrections officers union president has been charged with trespassing, impersonating a public servant and harassment in connection with a West Mifflin High School football game incident on Oct. 6.

Brian Englert, 48, allegedly first produced a badge and said he was law enforcement while attempting to park in the stadium's upper parking lot. While a school safety officer told him it was a "preferred parking" space and that he knew Englert was a jail guard, Englert was permitted to park in the lot anyway.

The criminal complaint notes that while Englert is a corrections officer, he has no actual law enforcement authority or arrest powers.

At halftime of the game, police said Englert showed up at an invitation-only hospitality room for school officials, knocked on the door and forced his way into the room. He took two bottles of water, which the district athletic director told him were meant for the football team.

Englert then allegedly shouted to those in the hospitality room that they knew where to find him and he had something waiting for them, which people perceived to be a threat.

Englert told police he was admitted into the suite and denied confronting anyone, according to the criminal complaint.

Englert's wife, Gina Englert, is a West Mifflin school director.
