Allegheny County Shuts Multiple Bars For Coronavirus Violations

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has closed multiple restaurants and bars for violating the state's COVID-19 capacity restrictions.

The closures have occurred even after a federal judge last week ruled that many of Gov. Tom Wolf's's coronavirus-related mandates were unconstitutional. Wolf said at a news conference Tuesday that his administration will appeal to the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia.

Among the closures:

• Savoy, Penn Avenue, Strip District: Allowing indoor operations after 11 p.m., exceeding 25 percent indoor occupancy, utilizing the bar for service, allowing smoking inside and serving alcohol without a meal.

• Hottie’s Martini & Cigar Bar. West Main Street, Carnegie: Allowing indoor operations after 11 p.m., utilizing the bar for service, lack of face coverings, allowing smoking inside, serving alcohol without a meal and failure to maintain physical distancing between patrons.

• Bridgez, Arlington Avenue, South Side Slopes: Open and operating without a valid health permit, allowing indoor operations after 11 p.m.,operating as a night club, lack of face coverings, allowing smoking inside, serving alcohol without a meal and failure to maintain physical distancing between patrons.

• Seven, Seventh Street, Downtown: Admitting individuals inside the establishment after 11 p.m. and denying entry for inspection.

The bars and restaurants must remain closed for a minimum of seven days.
