Allegheny County Tops 5,000 Coronavirus Cases

The county reported no new deaths on Monday.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department on Monday reported no new coronavirus deaths. The county death toll remains at 198.

The county reported 71 new cases, the first time the daily number has been under triple digits in nearly two weeks. The total number of cases during the outbreak now stands at 5,033.

"While we are glad to see today’s low number of positive cases, we are not reading anything into a single low number," health department officials said in a statement. "Testing over the weekend is typically lower, meaning that there is a decrease in cases and tests reported on a Monday. Additionally, we have heard that the increased volume of residents being tested has also slowed the reporting process down."
