AMC Movie Theaters: Prepare To Pay More For Chain's Best PA Seats

PENNSYLVANIA — AMC Theaters call it "Sightline." Moviegoers perhaps would call it "ripoff."
AMC, the nation's largest movie chain, on Monday unveiled a new ticket pricing policy for the movies it shows. Seats in the front of the theater will be less expensive. Seats in the middle will cost more.
The new policy will be in effect at all of its roughly 1,000 theaters by year's end.

“Sightline at AMC more closely aligns AMC’s seat pricing approach to that of many other entertainment venues, offering experienced-based pricing and another way for moviegoers to find value at the movies,” Eliot Hamlisch, AMC executive vice president, said in a statement.
The new policy, which might inspire some people to stay at home for their movie viewing, is as follows:

- Standard Sightline: The most common seats in auditoriums that are available for the traditional cost of a ticket.
- Value Sightline: Seats are in the theater's front row as well as select ADA seats in each auditorium. You want it? It's only available to AMC Stubs members.
- Preferred Sightline: These seats typically are in the middle of the theater and will be priced at what AMC terms "a slight premium" to Standard Sightline seats.
