PITTSBURGH, PA — One of Pittsburgh's most popular radio talk show hosts is experiencing serious health problems.
KDKA-AM midday show host Marty Griffin reported in his most recent social media posts that he was in the intensive care unit at Presbyterian University Hospital in Oakland.
A cancer patient in the past, Griffin contracted pneumonia several weeks ago.
"Pneumonia returned or never left," he wrote on multiple platforms.
"Third hospital in a week.
"Pus in lungs!
"Insane pain in chest!
"Heavy oxygen!
"Heavier antibiotics!
"Maybe throw a few prayers my way!
"Rough."
Griffin's post was accompanied by a photo of him lying in a hospital bed.
In addition to being a radio host, Griffin has been a longtime KDKA-TV reporter.
Born and raised in Shadyside, Griffin is an Ohio University graduate who was a reporter in Texas before returning to his hometown.
Griffin is married to KDKA-TV anchor Kristine Sorensen.
