Popular Pittsburgh Radio Host Hospitalized

A well-known Pittsburgh talk show host has been battling an illness in the hospital. Get the details here.

PITTSBURGH, PA — One of Pittsburgh's most popular radio talk show hosts is experiencing serious health problems.

KDKA-AM midday show host Marty Griffin reported in his most recent social media posts that he was in the intensive care unit at Presbyterian University Hospital in Oakland.

A cancer patient in the past, Griffin contracted pneumonia several weeks ago.

"Pneumonia returned or never left," he wrote on multiple platforms.

"Third hospital in a week.

"Pus in lungs!

"Insane pain in chest!

"Heavy oxygen!

"Heavier antibiotics!

"Maybe throw a few prayers my way!

"Rough."

Griffin's post was accompanied by a photo of him lying in a hospital bed.
In addition to being a radio host, Griffin has been a longtime KDKA-TV reporter.

Born and raised in Shadyside, Griffin is an Ohio University graduate who was a reporter in Texas before returning to his hometown.

Griffin is married to KDKA-TV anchor Kristine Sorensen.
