Police: Pittsburgh-Area Child-Luring Scare A 'Joke'

Police say two teens in a Pittsburgh neighborhood were joking when two alleged attempts to lure children into a car were made Wednesday.

O'HARA TOWNSHIP, PA — Police investigating reports of two attempted child luring incidents that occurred in the township on Wednesday afternoon were made by two teens as a joke.

Police initially reported that two separate groups of juveniles reported that they were approached by two men in a sedan. The first group told police the men offered them candy, saying, "Do you want some candy? Get in the car if you want candy." The second group reported that the men approached them and attempted to wave them over to the vehicle.

But a statement posted on the O'Hara Township Facebook page Thursday said that police concluded that the acts were committed by two juveniles who believed they were "joking around."
