Bar Louie In Bankruptcy, Closes Dozens Of Locations

The gastropub chain is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Gastropub chain Bar Louie has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and has closed 38 underperforming locations across the country. The chain, known for its burgers and cocktails said in a statement that its remaining 90-plus locations will operate as usual until the company emerges from bankruptcy within 90 days.

Among the restaurants surviving for now are Bar Louie's two Pittsburgh locations, on the North Shore and at The Waterfront.

"Bar Louie is a profitable business focused on long-term growth with new investors. The sale through Chapter 11 will help us to focus on our profitable core locations and expand in areas that have a proven track record of success," Bar Louie CEO Tom Fricke said in a statement.
